Country Style Jandowae opened in 2005. It was a bright idea to bring something to the little town that had few shops including the Jandowae 5 Star (convenience store), a post office, small hardware, police station, a butcher, one bank, one school, a small chemist, a hairdresser, one takeaway and three pubs - but nowhere to buy a gift. I thought it would be a positive step for the town to be able to buy a few homewares and gifts in town, without having to drive 40 minutes into the nearest town of Dalby.
The shop has grown since then. In March, 2007, I took over the local magazine, The Jandowae and District Magazine. In January of 2008, the shop moved location (next door to where it was) to a building with more room and divided into two shops; one for Country Style and one for the Magazine. This is working beautifully.
I am kept very busy with my three year old little man, William, a very busy farming husband, the shop and the magazine. I have a lot of help and support though. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful, supportive family.
